I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

What makes more money IT Audit or IT GRC?
Hello - hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm looking into risk assurance opportunities at Meta, especially Application Manager, Controls (min 5 YOE) and Manager, Compliance (min 12 YOE). I am a Senior Manager with 9 years of IT risks assurance experience. Does anyone have any thought on which position I should apply? If anyone currently at Meta could share your experience, that would also help. If anyone is open to providing referrals, I could provide my background. Facebook (Meta)

You can't escape taking screenshots
There are some people in this bowl that have switched to tech strategy, cyber etc. I would say the most common transition out of risk is cyber due to overlap in skills and possibly cause you do some cyber work in risk (depending on firm/team) other than that it’s it risk in industry.
Yeah it can happen, with developing outside knowledge. No IT audit is jumping into cyber strat solely with the knowledge of testing the same ITGCs for a few years in a row….
Sure you'll still be in risk in industry but you'll be taking screenshots for 40 hours a week (maybe) instead of 55+ hrs per week
Risk Assurance -> industry IT audit -> staff accountant
The CPA got my foot in the door for the staff accountant role. Also, had to take a pay decrease for it but I am making more than I was before now
why you switch from risk to accountant?
You can always move to another LOS that’s not risk assurance. I moved to FAAS.
