I had a chat with a Google recruiter, went through a round with HR, and then the hiring manager needs to pick a few people to interview. They did pick me, but the next call never happened. I got a reply after a month saying the hiring for the role is on hold. Is this something that usually happens?

Why is it so difficult to make the next career move within your OWN company. I have over 7 years of experience across multiple departments and yet an external company is more willing to give an interview to select roles than your own home company for the same role internally!!
