Yeah, if you're not doing research, you're not really doing UX.
I would probably recommend looking into Visual Designer, UI Designer, or Interface Designer roles, as they seem more focused around what you've been doing.
Would recommend becoming more familiar with strategy regardless of your role, as it can have a big impact in moving into senior positions.
I had worked in an agency before as a UI/UX designer with an additional UX designer and it was perfect. It was only a short project though and the agency was small and paid chips.
I’d also worked in-house for fresh tech startups that had a huge budget, but low UX maturity, so my knowledge was enough and money was great. I just felt that as a sole designer I can’t learn from anyone to develop my skills.
Never worked for a staffing agency or a corporation. Should I look into it?
You can upgrade with courses and other ways learn methodologys. Many many good books, look up UX team of 1.
