I would just wait and give two weeks. Anything can happen between now and then and a paycheck is always better than no paycheck.
Do not give your current employer too much time to begin messing with your " kool-aid". Give a week, because half a month notice is what they want but when they let people go suddenly they give zero notice.
They will survive but they can make things rocky for you if you give too much leeway.
Managers are sometimes very childish and they take the job move personally and they have groups of people in the compsny try to make you insane until your last day.

Assuming you've cleared the background checks and have nothing else pending that would jeopardize your offer, take the extra time off. When else would you get 2+ weeks to do whatever you want to do
Depends if you need the money. And if you want some extra down time, which can be really nice.
I would at least wait until the start of the month to put in notice. Some insurance will be active through the end of the month you are in when you quit. So quit at the beginning of the month and get a full month of coverage.
Good idea, thanks for the response
If everything is green light go, no lurking or pending things that could prevent me from that new job, I usually like to give myself at least a week off in between. Nice reset time and a bit of a break before getting started on something new.
Depends when your benefits stop and start. I would give my two weeks notice May 1, work two weeks, then do a week break
Depends on if you want to take any time off between jobs. I found it helpful when I switched jobs recently. Only 6 days but that was a nice break.
I would be prepared for my last day to be the day I turn in my notice.
Depending on your position is how much time I give . As a Manager or Director it is better to give at least a month notice when you accept a job . Your position is harder to fill takes a little more time to find the right person . If you are an assistant or department employee then 2 weeks is sufficient.
I would give notice 2 weeks out. If you’re concerned about the transition. Just silently start putting together notes. When I moved companies I gave myself a well deserved two weeks off. I was fortunate because I had vacation pay out that covered most of it.
