I have a toddler and he is very curious. I Feel like we ‘explore’ less as we get older. How much do you feel you ‘explore’ in you career? Do you think that’s good or bad?

I love this question! I feel like as we get older, the "exploring" in our careers can slow down, especially once we settle into routines. But I think it’s important to keep seeking new challenges or learning opportunities to keep things fresh. I like to take on a new hobby every year. Last year it was sourdough, this year I've decided to learn how to knit. They call 'em granny hobbies lol but it's so nice to work with your hands after staring at a computer all day

Tax Senior here. I’m well liked around the office, I put in the hours and work hard, I haven’t had any dumpster fire projects, but I am a mediocre performer compared to my peers (not as strong project management, communication, not as confident). I just got told they’re firing me. Should I expect severance? Have other people been fired for similar? What did you do with your career?

Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??
