Do you know how to draft them? If so, use case facts that you're familiar with, reacting parties' info obviously, and draft one. Most the time anything in final form has been revised by an attorney anyway.
While I definitely understand wanting the job, if they are looking for someone that can hit the ground running, it sounds like that is not something you'll be able to do. Are they open to bringing someone on that is capable but will need training? Maybe be honest that it is not something you have ever done, but you are open to learning. The job market is fierce right now, so you don't want to end up in a position where you aren't able to do the job day 1 and they end up deciding they don't have time to train you. It is an employers market. I've been looking for a job for a while, and it's extremely tough, nearly impossible, so you don't want to end up there. Good luck with whatever you decide!
As a hiring manager I would want to see your work product from your general practice, not something you produced to impress me. The idea is that what I’m trying to assess is your day to day skill set, so that’s what I’d want to see (redacted, definitely). Pick the most robust thing you personally contributed to, prob a settlement agreement, and explain that you could produce something more on point to their request if necessary but you thought it was best to offer them an insight into your actual paralegal experience. If they’ve seen your resume they should know you primarily work in admin law
I have worked in litigation in BL for many years and have never been asked to draft anything. I have been asked to summarize discovery findings on specific topics relevant to plaintiff claims. Managing document discovery, deposition discovery leading up to expert work, dispositive motions and pretrial is the focus on my work and the work of my team. Have done close to 30 trials/arbitrations ranging from 1 week to 6 months in length. In my experience associates draft.
I do government work and draft notices to send to Respondents. Previously I worked private sector and the most I did was draft settlement agreements and had the attorney review. An answer and an excerpt of a motion is kind of out there for me and I don’t even know where to begin with this lol.
