USI Insurance brokerage and consulting - thoughts? A recruiter reached out to me via linked in and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this company. They seem to have decent reviews on Glassdoor but I was hoping to get more insight into workload and comp. Thanks in advance! USI

OP, I have been at amazon for a while in a product role and the culture is HIGHLY team dependant. Typically, on the AWS side, I have seen people work long and hard in good or toxic environments. The wlb tends to be around 50 to 60 hours per week with some weekend work during launch events. However, it does change the more senior you are and compared to consulting the hours are tremendously better. In terms of actual culture, it is a little Darwinian in the sense that you either perform or go as an individual. The ad tech org and retail org are also very very different.
Couldn’t echo this more! Any individual should know that big orgs no matter how amazing the general sentiment around wlb/culture is outside really are made up of islands of great or toxic teams. Any role you get into, it is critical that you assess the leads and coworkers before committing to it. The environment of the role is a big enabling factor for happiness and success in a role.
I interviewed there and one interviewer mentioned it’s a very political culture

What role and level?

Micro cultures exist, but even within job families. For example. Software Development is known to be brutal, whereas Solutions Architecture is a much better culture (on average, of course). Happy to DM more
Really depends what your role is, but I’d stay away from consulting type gigs. Only thing really pursuing is product manager roles within AWS. The rest will be poor wlb and probably not enough pay for what you give in.
