I have an offer that matches my current pay but includes a higher bonus. I’m thinking about quitting because I can’t keep up with the long hours, but the new role is in a different industry. Would it be stupid to make this change? I’m comfortable with my current team, and I’m afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone.

Bonuses are never engraved in stone. Sounds like you’re not ready to leave yet. Or, at least, not for this position.

Any art directors/sr designers who have successfully pivoted out of a creative role and into something else? When and how do you push back on people senior to you? Fifth year dealing with supersenior associate (11th year) who completely lacks good judgment & common sense. One of those super smart but impractical types. As just one example, he recently called me to tell me to call someone who’s on vacation and ask them to send a calendar invite. I offered to send myself but apparently that wouldn’t work (presumably because it would be efficient & make sense.) At what point (and how) do I Just Say No?

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
