So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

How i see ppl leaving the states... “they’ve been choseeeeen 😲 “
I’ve recently left, thankfully not by lay-off. Between global mobility being restricted like this, and Trump’s stealth attempts to defund visa programs, I’ve felt vulnerable and insecure for some time. Had a great few years but it feels like such a relief to be home where I have full rights, networks and family - and am not living in fear of being forced to leave the country through lay-off. I would expect to see a lot of non green card holders do the same
I'm going to be one of the ones that leave. But by my own choice, not because of layoffs. Feels like the right time. I've had a great 5 years here. But the mismanagement of covid plus a whole lot of other reasons.
I’ve been in the states for about ten years, school then work. Planning to leave as well (by choice, hopefully within two years). Bringing my American spouse with me too.
Yes. Lots of European friends are going back home 😢
