Hi! I just accepted a Relationship Banker II role in Allen, TX. My offer letter was 50k base and 1k guaranteed commission a month first year. I just graduated w a degree in Business Administration. Basically the info I got on how commission works was pretty vague. Anyway I wanted to see what someone I’m their 1st or 2nd year can realistically expect to on average make in commission a year in this role. Also what do bonuses in the role look like? I’m hoping to just hear some ballpark numbers! JPMorgan Chase JPMorgan Chase

Sharing my thoughts as a Recruiter turned HR Generalist (4 years ago). If I were starting this journey, this is the advice I would give myself.
Give yourself more credit and grace as you continue to grow within HR. It’s not easy making this transition but put things into practice for yourself - whether it’s asking the hard questions or having weekly 1:1 check ins with key leads. Focus on building relationships with employees and managers to build trust so they can come to you and see you as a partner. Learning processes and day to day ops will come with experience.
You won’t know everything right away, and that’s to be expected. Use your want to learn and better yourself while also giving yourself grace to learn. Every situation is a learning experience, and it will get easier with a high standard.
It may take time for you to fully learn how to ask those questions. But always ask why?
Also ask what the individual expects to be the outcome? There are times an individual just wants to be heard.
If you can, attend local SHRM chapter meetings. Find someone to mentor you (another HR professional, not a co-worker).
