I have been in the childcare/education industry for over 10 years, however I have held volunteer and other jobs that focused on events, operations and logistics. I have also performed these roles within the organizations I have worked for without the title. I would like to professionally transition to these industries. Any suggestions on how I can make my resume emphasize my acquired experience for these roles while making sure my job titles don't disqualify me with recruiters?

I would list them just like a job in the experience section but in a Summary at the top, I would mention the volunteering experience as being unpaid but what you got out of them to emphasize what skills you learned.

Thank you! This is helpful because I wondered if I could list them like a job since they were unpaid roles.

Additional Posts in Career Pivot

Leaving my current job for a career pivot. Current job has been challenging to say the least and senior management never hears what others have to say. Employment is an at will state.
Senior leadership is so unforgiving that I fear by giving notice, I’ll be asked to leave and lose out on two weeks pay.
Thoughts and feedback on not giving notice or reducing the typical two weeks?
Thank you!

I have an offer for a company abroad. Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. They then proposed starting out remotely “as soon as possible” in the US as a contractor and then moving abroad to start full time abroad. (Cont)

Do companies sometimes offer "gifts of appreciation" if you're not selected for a merit increase? My manager randomly called me to let me know I was chosen for the "gift" this year bc of my "hard work & dedication", except now I'm learning other colleagues are receiving actual merits.
I mean it's possible that I may receive a merit, but I feel like I won't considering my manager never brought it up & the dept update made it sound like those receiving it should know by now.

Tough time getting past final step: I’ve been trying to make a career shift for 10 months now and continue to get rejected at the last step. Im confident in the value I can provide and do well at presenting it. However, once it’s comes down to me and 1-2 other candidates, I repeatedly have been turned down for the person who has more relevant experience as they’re a safer bet for the employer. Would love advice from anyone who’s dealt with this before. It’s tough to get them to take a risk on me

Not sure whether to be honest or not in this situation. I have decided that I want to leave my job and do a masters degree.
