In the US, the vast majority of work is employment at will. Now depending of the company and your level (executives get more perks) you will receive 2-3 months notice. My company would you pay you 3 months to look for a job after letting you know you are getting fired, so it depends
Notice periods are more common in consulting at the more senior levels (SM+) but this is to protect the firm, not the employee and to ensure appropriate transition of client work and tie off of all independence / QRM matters. EU = employee protections. US = employer protections. Very different mindset.
Common for most jobs of any type in the US. Some states have laws against employment at will, but those are exceptions

It is the norm almost everywhere in the US. Union jobs are the most notable exception.
M1- is that a big 4?
M2 - what state is that? May want to check your facts there.
Employment at will in the US depends on your home state, the one you live in primarily or the one upon which your employment is based. With more and more very mobile workers, it is becoming more common for employers to declare the state upon which the laws of employment will be based. That will almost always be a state that has employment at will
Welcome to the US😎
