I have been seeing some posts on job search boards where there appears to be positions available. But when I go to the company websites and look under their Careers page, they state there are no open positions at this time. What gives?

For context, I apply only through company websites and this comment is assuming you're not looking at ghost jobs

From what I've observed it's common for the Careers page to be lagging behind job boards or be completely out of sync, the worst offenders are companies who don't use recruiting services like Workable or Workday

Some companies may take up to 48 hours to update their Careers page for new job openings, if that's the case, use the exact match feature of your search engine to search for: 'company_name "position"' where 'position' is something uniquely identifiable, such as the full position title or a ref code, companies who are using recruitment services or a unified application portal will have the job page set up before posting on job boards and this method will bring it up as long as it's indexed, or it'll bring up a company post, if any, (e.g. on LinkedIn) announcing the position that includes an email to send CVs at

Lastly, you can always send an email inquiry, we're all human and communication can solve most obstacles

Either a scammer using their company name or the HR team is leaving “evergreen” job posts up for roles they often hire fit to ensure there’s always a funnel of applicants.

Q’s for hiring partners and recruiters - you know that most associates quit their managing attorneys and not the firm/case. I’m in that boat. What do I say to a prospective employer about the situation of why I want to jump ship?

Very brief background - I’m a senior associate who has been on one complex commercial litigation case for over a year. Over time, the relationships between attorneys on the case have deteriorated to the point that it is affecting my productivity/work. I want out.

I am a VP with compensation of ₹48Lpa in India. Have an offer of €65K in Germany. The German offer is at a lower position and lower compensation as I do not know German (as yet) and senior roles would require client interaction (German clients).

I see it as an opportunity to get my foot into Germany on a EU Blue Card and then look for something better once there.

I am in a non-IT role.

Any thoughts?

Anyone who has started up a side hustle whilst working in consulting - is it generally a good idea to let your employer know or will they make your life difficult/try to push you out if they know?

(Context - I need the extra income to have a shot at affording grad school, I work for a small boutique, job contract was ambiguous on the issue. Side hustle is selling stuff I make as a hobby on Amazon)

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

I got a call from the Google recruiter about my L7 em interview Google She said I did overwhelmingly good on all interviews except one had mixed feedback on a system design. No surprise because it was not a good interview. The recruiter said i had a choice to go to hiring committee, give referrals they could call about my system design or take another system design interview. I’m not confident about the system design because of the bad experience I had with the previous interviewer. What should I do?
