I’m currently working in Citi as an AVP in Mumbai for the past 9 months.. due to personal reasons I wanted to move back to Pune (I have worked in Pune for last 8 years before coming to Citi) so I landed up with an offer from HSBC into Wholesale IT (GCB5).
My current Fixed CTC in Citi is 26.5 excluding PF and Retrials and HSBC IT has offered me 30.5 for the same and said they cannot increase further as am moving jobs in after 9 months which is too early..

Can you tell your YOE ? I think the german compensation is on the very low side & the taxation is also on the higher side. If u have exp around 6 yoe , then the pay seems fine . Did u check with company HR for the gross and net calculations on the pay per month?
Chief
Personally I would also take the offer..as not much dependent on job and want to try overseas..can surely get better offer once learnt German..but till that time it will be like hell..esp if you go with family with that salary..
Look from longer term ,your Indian CTC is touching upper bracket of what Indian IT is usually offering for leadership position if non cloud tech. Moving above your current CTC in India there will be limited offering excluding Google,Microsoft and amazon plus these company will also offer esop related stuff but limited in-hand whereas with German offer in coming year u can touch 90k - 100k very easily plus various European,US,UK and Cad market will also open.
What makes you think 48LPA is an upper band in India ???
Pro
Thats quite low for Germany
I think one point to consider is Germany’s Situation right now. 2023 recession is predicted and India will be least impacted market if at all recession hits hard.
And going to Germany with that package will be very difficult for a family to survive and given the current inflation, one should negotiate the right salary to survive, else good life concept will be converted to miserable life there. I’ve seen ppl returning back from Europe coz they did not think it thru

If you are planning to go this year I would say it's not a good decision. The EU is in very bad shape now due to Recession and war. So you need to be careful before taking any risk.

Its better to stay in India for now. Even if things gets bad in India it will be the last after other countries

I'd say don't rush your decision man. Seems like you only have this boat right now and you don't want to miss it. Wait it out. Let this wave pass. There might be a bigger boat after this. If you think you are rushing your decision, take a step back and see how many positive ✅ and negative❌ does this opportunity hit.
Most of the people want to get out for a better life. HRs try to lowball us , and when we are desperate we take that bait, and regret later. It's up to you, and your risk appetite in the end.
Besides what we are discussing here, it would be awesome if you can keep us posted on what you decide and how things turn out for you. I'm really invested in your story !
Lol, surely will update here on how it turns out for me.
I think you should try for a better offer, Sir. I'm ENO3 and going with a 145k £ offer in 3 YOE. I'm sure you can get a better job than 65k € in EU or UK
May i know your tech stack dude?
EU is not a place for huge payrolls/savings it's a place to have a great work life balance. So if you are looking for that then do go ahead with the offer from Germany. But if you want to save big money there is no better place than India right now since the expenses are minimal.
With that salary, I would have chosen good work life balance so that I could spend time on what I like actually. I personally don't think there is much to live in Europe.
Choose Europe for good work Life balance instead of Money.
Harman 1 - Don't have to be at the doorstep for 2 years. As long as you have a job offer, profession is same and paid as per requirements, authorities approve change of employment without much hassle.
65k is a salary for 5 yr exp IT guy. It is less than a L5 program manager at Google. Fresher master degree holder is in good companies get 50k average.
Managers at big 4 get 70k to 80k.
65k is half of what u should get.
Pay cut is ok.
Is 50% pay cut & more tax ok ?
Ur take home salary with less than 3500 euro.
U can switch job with new employer for some time. Don't remember the exact month or year.
Kindly let us know where you have applied, even I am trying for Germany. I am in IT
thats superb. Even I am trying, atleast your words keep me motivated to apply more 😀
Please check the income power parity, if you are getting 48 Lpa in India to meet this 48 lackhs you need to get 1.5 lack Euros/per annum. This 1.5 lacks will match only your 48lackhs.
Technically you are looking for something 20-30% above 48 lackhs in India.
Watch income power parity on youtube and you will understand everything.
Don't go for it.
Apologies, but the 'lackhs' really ticked me off. Also I think a conversation should move forward and result in value.
Just had a discussion yesterday, with an ex-colleague who moved to Duesseldorf (Couple and 2 kids) about a year ago for an opportunity with her organization... She was the one who infact reached out to me and then discouraged me after she got to know, that I earn 42 lakhs here... Though I had researched about Germany 1.5 years ago for an internal opportunity and declined the offer coz they were offering only €60k, but I thought 100k+ should be a decent amount but was shocked to know about her views... attaching a screenshot for everyone's benefit..
May be he/she is living in the clubs partying all day and night. Euros ko uda rahe honge. I know people who live a great life here with even 60k euros. Its all about the way you live. Even in India also crorepatis bhi bankrupt home road pe aatey hai. Ee kuch exaggeration hi kar rahe hai
Well you need to check out few things
1. What's expense for month or day
2. Living cost
3. How much for transport
4. After that you have to look how much you save on site
5. Are they providing the accomodation cost?
6. Are they sponsoring visa or not ?
7. Is there any bond for living for sp time after which you may leave ot gets terminated? If yes don't even think about since you will be slave for the organisation.
8.Will there be any Holliday and compulsory time off of ar least 30 dats in which your up and down trip to India will be sponsored. This is must
If you earn 48lpa in India , in Germany it. Will be hourly bases so after considering above you need to think as 1.5cr INR. Also do not choose INR as your offer. Instaid choose the German currency/ Euro with higher Rupee conversation rate.
I have a package of 30LPA at SDE 3 level.
Interviewed and got a job offer of 64k in Berlin. Declined it since the offer was very low.
You with 48LPA shouldn't even think of going there. Especially with the recession and energy crisis.
Check parity index on Google. This will help you to know how should you earn there in order to live same or better life then India. All the best.

euro 65k is on very lower side, as compared to your existing package in India.
Absolutely, €65K is ₹52L.
I make the same here with 1/3rd the cost of living.
Another suggestion. Even though I am not pro or never even visited germany.
But, many company do malpractice. They try to hire for cheap. Just to save money. So better you apply to big international companies. There they will maintain a parity with salary.

Ukraine war is a concern. I would suggest go for it once the situation settles. In the meanwhile you can learn German and may be you can straight away bag a good offer after an year
