I think protein is supposed to be once a month.
Yeah I heard that too but I decided to get a lace front, and when I took it out my edges left too. Lol; My edges have literally grown back in 1 month. It’s crazy.
Not if your hair is ok. Not all protein treatments are the same intensity and penetration. Egg and Mayo will be very light compared to a protein conditioner so sounds like it's just enough.

Hey fellow Floridian 👋🏾
I've never done protein treatments myself. I like to use shampoos and conditioners with protein in them. But I say, let your hair tell you what it needs. If you're not experiencing breakage, why change anything?

Do you know what your hair porosity type is? That could dictate how often you need protein treatment.

I alternate between steam treatments and protein treatments each week, so no more than 2 proteins/month. My hair is extremely thick so it can handle it, but my stylist does warn about overdoing it. Perhaps find another type of treatment to do in between.
