I have 4c hair, & I have just recently started using rice water. My hair is extremely slow to grow, but he rice water has been great! I have mostly been keeping my hair in braids and twists. I would also second everything SA1 said.
-Jamaican Black castor oil
-Leave your hair alone as much as you can (protective styling)
-Hair masks
I agree on the being left alone part but disagree with stretching it. I comb it during washing and when I’m either twisting or braiding (all wet) for a twist/braid out. Regarding hair products, there’s no one size fits all. You have to try different methods before you know what’s right for you. I’d recommend protective styles though. I do single braids or twists and leave that in for a 2 or 3 months. Stay away from heat as much as possible. I think I get a blow out once every 2 years to just do a length check. And most importantly, be patient - don’t compare your hair journey to others. Good luck sis!
I have 4b/4C hair! I love using Aunt Jackie products. Also purchased a denman brush - always use Aunt Jackie's Knot on My Watch Instant Detangling Therapy to detangle my hair. Plus you can leave it in as a conditioner. I always prepoo before washing (which makes a huge difference). I like to put my hair in mini twists using ecostyler argon oil gel. Try not to play in your hair (I have a problem with this which I’m trying to break). Find a good moisturizer - surprisingly the head and shoulders royal oils moisturizer is amazing. Use the LOC method. Use light oils like argon, jojoba, and peppermint oils.

These are principles I follow.
1. Our hair likes to be left alone. I wear my hair in a bun 99.9% of the time. A lot of that is due to laziness, but styling your hair all the time breaks it off.
2. Don't use Combs or brushes.
3. Keep having stretched as much and as long as possible.
4. Use shampoos and conditioners that have both moisturizing AND strengthening properties. I look for protein and keratin in my products.
5. I don't use products with silicone anymore. I don't have proof that it helps, but I think I've seen improvement since I stopped using it
6. Take Biotin supplements
I have 4a hair but agree with those who posted re: leaving your hair alone. I have one wash day where I fully dentangle with a denman, use a hair mask by Moroccan oil, load up my hair with leave in conditioner, and let it air dry. The rest of the days, I just refresh with water (purchase a spray bottle) and a light oil. I may use a little bit of gel or edge control if I’m going out on the in between days, but try to leave it alone for the most part. And of course, water and exercise to stimulate the growth.
Check your posterity of your hair to find the best products for you. Try to keep your hands out of it and be consistent. Remember not to compare.
