Favorite thing I’ve ever done with people from out of town is get e-bikes and ride up the coast. We got them in Solana Beach and went all the way up to Carlsbad, had lunch, and came back. It was a blast and a fun way to see all the different parts of North county.
Pro
Tacos and Margs at El Prez
Top thing to do is a day on Coronado. The Del is charming and has good cocktails with an ocean view. You can bike or golf around the island. The beaches are pristine. And the Henry has great brunch and dinner.
Rent an e-bike at Carlsbad Village and head north to Oceanside Harbor. There are shops in the harbor to check out; ride south towards the pier for more shops and restaurants; then ride south on Pacific st. going south onto Cassidy st. then ride south until you reach Leucadia (Encinitas); turn right on Grandview towards the ocean. Right in Neptune to see Grandview Beach.
Walk around Encinitas Botanical Garden for photo ops. Full set at Blush Hour Spa on Balboa Ave, they do designs. Yuu Spa for Korean body scrubs.
Parrot feeding?? Tell me more!
Get pizza (PSP, pizzeria Luigi) and eat it at Sunset cliffs in the back of your car facing the sunset, black’s beach/Ho Chi Minh trail down, glider port for sunset, gravity heights is a fun spot, Pure Project in NP, ride bikes in Coronado
I love taking people to Sunny Jim's Sea Cave. There's a cool, quirky gift shop there as well.
La Jolla is one of the best parts of San Diego, esp. for shopping, walking, and dining. If you have kids, Legoland is way more fun than it used to be
I second La Jolla. Its one of my all time favorite thing to take guests to do. They literally always love it.
Liberty Public Market. There are a ton of different things to do and cultural delicacies all in one spot.
Rent a bike down in Mission Beach and cruise the boardwalk. This is my own form of therapy during the weekends.
Cruise the Sunrise Highway, make sure to stop by Dudley's bakery and get some bread.
If you have time on a Tuesday or Thursday morning between 9 a.m. and noon, you can visit Queen Califia's Magical Garden by Niki De St Phalle at Kit Carson Park. It's a hidden sculpture garden that's worth a look.
Pacific Coast Skydiving. You’ll see the ocean, the coastline, and inland. It’s beautiful
The water/ costal areas are what make San Diego unique. I would hike Torrey Pines then head down to LA Jolla to see the cove and children's pool to see the Seals. Follow that up with a meal in the area.
Tacos and margs are always popular.
