Am I the only one whose LinkedIn newsfeed is filled with “proud to announce...” posts from new hires joining consulting?
I too received multiple offers, but didn’t care to flex and humble brag lol...

Hmm lets see how they feel 2 months after start date

Some people are just excited 🤷🏼‍♀️

Some people really need to shut up though. Also gets on my nerve where they make it into a whole marketing campaign for themselves

Lol A1and SC1, they can do what they want, but I’ve only got so many gold stars and cookies to give out 😂

Personally I hate seeing those posts on LinkedIn. It’s like congrats, have a cookie.

Op, I don’t consider that humble bragging (but I also limit my LinkedIn connections to business, and not friends and family). I actually don’t want my family to know my title. I guess I can see your point for new hires though since they have a more limited network

like

Wait, are they posting their new jobs or that they got multiple offers?

like

Yeah it’s getting old - you got a job. Congrats

My favorite are when they’re sitting at a table in front of the company logo as if they were an athlete that just selected a hat for their signing commitment

Lol I was just commenting to my sister about this today. Very cringey

What’s an example? I’m imaging “excited for my first job with Deloitte consulting”. Is that a problem?

So today was my first day on a stimulant (diagnosed as an adult), and everyone says its suppose to feel like *boom* magic, or normal (?) , I guess. Knowing that is figurative, what should I actually be expecting? I feel mostly the same, I think, though I came in and actually did started my work today. But I mean, somedays I do that...I just don't want to psyche myself out if I'm expecting too much. Or pscyhe myself in if I actually might not be experiencing what I should.

I’m a new grad working in FDD and I’m trying to decide if becoming a CPA is worth it. I do not plan on staying in accounting in the future. I’m more interested in strategy work. I certainly do not want to do Audit. Would you recommend getting the CPA considering my career aspirations? Do you think it’s worth it? If not, what is the best way to use my time efficiently?

Question on entering consulting. Worked for a non-profit for six years, entered healthcare tech last year as a CSM, and just got an offer from a life sciences consulting firm. My hope is to eventually get into more broad strategy consulting (MBB or big 4, have connections at both). Would working at a more boutique firm limit or help in the long run? I don’t want to be in life sciences forever but figured it could be a good launchpad into consulting. I’m 30 so not old, but also not young.
