I have two offers : a) IB first year analyst at a BB firm 50k base; b) 70k consultant role at a life science consultancy - is it stupid to go for the IB ? For reference, the 20K extra translates into 1K after tax monthly income

I also just got an IB offer, don’t know what to do. It’s a 70% pay bump but worried hours will be even worse than currently. Any advice?

Can live without - what worries me is that I’ll be competing against 21 year olds coming out of college. It’s a bit demoralising....

Which life science firm? I would lean towards IB with room to grow. WLB may be the same depending on LS company

The reason I want to make the switch is 1) I think consulting work is generally more interesting; 2) more exit opportunitie

Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room. We can move the changing table and pack n play in the living room, and the nanny and the baby can hang in the living room. Does this sound like a good plan?

I worked hard at a small agency and was promoted from AE to AS after only 8 months in the industry. I had to leave and found a contract position as an AS at a large agency. I am finishing my contract and my boss offered me a permanent position, but wants me on as an AE. I am open to the AE position, but they are unwilling to compromise on the AE salary which is a substantial cut from my salary at my former agency and 45% of my contract pay. What do I do? Do I leave if I feel I deserve more?

After you’ve connected with a consultant on LinkedIn what’s the best practice for asking someone to give you a practice case? To balance respect someone’s time vs coming off as transactional. Should you first ask for coffee chat, then later a case or can you ask for a case in your first “chat”? I am prepping for MBB interviews but I know consultants work crazy hours so I don’t want to take up more time than necessary - what would you prefer? What is the best practice?
