Yes, as long as you forget everything you learned outside the PMP book. Your best option is really to just take a class and then take the test immediately afterward. It’s all about memorization.
When I did it, I took the class and then didn’t bother scheduling the test until 4-5 months later. I crammed for 2-3 evenings after work to refresh my memory and past with advanced proficiency (or whatever it’s called). I definitely should’ve just taken the test right after the class to save myself the cram time.
Dm me your email. I have a book that is easy to read /understand without memorizing and so far 15 out of 15 friends passed the PMP exam using only the book to prepare for the exam. I would be happy to share it with you.
DM-ed! Thanks in advance
OP, you don’t have the lead the projects at work and just show that you have worked on those projects with different phases/methodologies PMI recommends.
It’s all rote memorization, and learning to answer the questions the way they want you to. You get to use scratch paper so the second you sit down, write down everything you memorized and then reference it during the test. It’s all processes and some equations.
Whoops. Well, I just aged myself there 😆
Great. My coworker told me he’s been studying since july and has taken tons of practice tests and failed almost all of them. He’s been in project management for 15 years which I think might hurt him more than help him because he’s having a hard time with the PMI way of doing things. I guess I’ll apply today.
Does anyone know how stringent they are on the PM experience? I have project experience but to say I led all of them is a stretch, so trying to figure out how to handle that.
Taking a PMP boot camp now and concur with EY1, you need to read the book. Get Rita’s prep book. It’s so much easier than a the official PMP book and has lots of practice quizzes.
Any PMP boot camp recommendations? I just found out I’ll be on the bench for 1-2 months so now is the time
