I joined Ericsson last December as a Java
developer, 5.8yoe, 13lpa. The promise of
good work life balance brought me here
However, I'm now in a project where I got
no KT, there are no instructions for local
setup, no proper docs for application
urls, codebase etc, and I find myself
wasting time over figuring out things on
my own. Also there are too many calls
in a day. I easily find myself working for
over 10-12 hours everyday. I'm mentally
breaking down, how do I deal with this?

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? My current consulting role is not - so this would be new.

Wish apps like BetterHelp were free. I can’t afford healthcare or therapy (I’m unemployed, and yes, I’ve tried seeking pro bono therapy options — no place anywhere nearby offers it.) I really need a therapist I can talk to on at least a weekly basis to just unpack so much that’s bogging me down to the point of being unable to function some days, but it’s just so cost prohibitive! What sucks is everyone assumes this career hands you median wages on a platter but I’m worse off than I’ve ever been.

Anyone watch the clock tick away and have this endless dread of the work day starting like me. When I wake up on weekdays I dread looking at the clock. During the day I mentally start counting down how much time is left on a 30 min break, on Sundays it’s a whole different story.

Has anyone left big 4 or other PA firms tax transaction service groups for industry (or know of anyone)? What was the role and salary bump, how are annual bonuses/raises in industry, what is a typical work week (hours) like? I don’t think I can take this always on just to stay afloat life much longer. For context I am considered a high performer, am near the top of the salary band at my level and have a great supporting network at Deloitte. It’s just not worth it to have zero personal life.
