That situation doesn't seem that unusual. As long as they're interviewing people it will be a competition. You can follow up and ask where things stand, but trying to augment the interview may not be welcomed.
A follow-up can make a whole lot of difference in how they see you as interested, proactive, and a self-starter. Always follow up, showing excitement, and mention something about the interview, and remind them you are excited and ready for the job. I got a job JUST doing that.

You could always mail him a thank you card thanking them for their time and their interest and then just leave it at that I think that would say a whole lot cuz that's a whole lot more than an email a text or a voicemail
