I should have taken PTO this week instead of working 3 days... so dumb

I work for a company with a pretty generous PTO policy and a mostly remote flex policy (4 days a month in office if within 75 miles of the building). One thing I’m wondering if there is a way to help us I get the “I’m taking a mental health day” call out regularly which causes a strain on the rest of the team because we were unable to prepare like we would with pre-planned PTO. Any ideas of things I can do as a manager to encourage pre-planned PTO instead of these call outs?

Where can I find local holiday calendar?
Also if my reporting manager isn't from India, do I get a holiday if the same is in India?

Should I take vacation days for 2-3 weeks in my promotion year (3-4 months before promotion)? What would be the impact to my promotion? Is it just utilization or it could slow down my promotion?

I have a new lined up - start date is Aug 10. Will my current firm hate me forever if I take 30 days PTO on July 5th and then immediately quit when I come back?

Hello all!

Changing from Vacation and Sick Time to just plain PTO starting in Jan. Staff can save up to 40hrs of their accrued Sick Time banks to use in 2022 in addition to their new PTO.

We have a part-time employee with more than 40 sick hours who will try to use as much of their Sick Time as they can before Jan 1. If this person has an avg weekly schedule of 17.5 hrs, can we stop them using sick time if their sick + work time will take them over their 17.5 scheduled hours?

Is it unethical as realtors working in an office to block chunks of time off for personal reasons? Some of my coworkers stay in their desks for up to 10 hours, but I've taken up the habit of blocking at least 1 hour daily for lunch, breaks, and other issues that may arise. Do you do this as well or do you prefer to work straight through your day?

I took spontaneous PTO (4 days but really 3 days as I worked a bit today) (also, I was highly encouraged by my mentor at the firm to take PTO this week before busy season hits next week.) I came back and got scolded for not letting my reviewer know (a partner btw). I was planning to work on the engagement next week. I feel awful and cried after reading the partner’s email. European fish - going on a trip Wednesday to Sunday in the EU. PTO this week, but not next. Are you one to bring your laptop on the trip in case if absurd circumstance, corona etc. or leave it at home and just bring work phone?

A few months ago I asked the question about using travel smart routers to host a VPN to disguise your location. The purpose of this is to have a working vacation in a foreign country, without telling work about it. My work computer has restricted access so I cannot install a VPN service on the computer without help from IT. My work around is a smart router that can directly host a VPN. Currently working at a large enterprise company and I have taken a role as the 1st AE at a startup expanding to the US. What would you look to accomplish within the first 60 days and how would you approach improving as your tenure grows?

How large is your referral bonus if you refer someone and they get hired at your company?

My quota is based on invoiced sales that resets quarterly. This includes a sliding-scale commission % based on how far you’re at on your quarterly goal (towards quota) which is checked/paid once a month. The only thing that goes toward our quota is PAID sales. This excludes orders still being processed by DE (largest orders) and customers still within NET payment terms. We don’t get paid until the company gets paid. Am I missing warning potential? Am I being expected of A and judged on B?

Does anyone here use LinkedIn for prospecting, and have success with it? I have Premium, and I send dozens of messages per week, and if I’m lucky one person will respond. And most of the people I message work for companies that are already purchasing from us, but there’s no business relationship. Super frustrating.

Hi there, I got an offer for an early stage cyber security saas startup in Canada and they offered me 130k base and 10-15% commissions which they estimated at 160-240k additional a year. They only have 1 sales person at the moment and I would be 2nd and they are hiring for 3 more. I’ve always been on a 50:50 model and never done the % of revenue. Average deal size is 40k. I got 12 yoe in enterprise tech sales. No stock options upfront but potentially after the first 3 months. Good deal?

Since starting at this company in January 2022, they’ve increased my base pay from 75k to 85k. Moved me in a desirable territory to maximize sales. allowed me to speak and train reps for what has been working. Given me the freedom to work strategies that work for me.

I absolutely love this company so far. I know my worth is higher than 85k base but sheesh. The way they value me and treat their employees right. Maybe it’s worth the lesser pay?
