I just got hired as a RSP teacher, I have no idea what supplies I should purchase for my desk, let alone my classroom. Any suggestions?

What is RSP? I am not familiar with that abbreviation.

For students that are able to be mainstreamed or included more in the GE setting, RSP is available to support them either in a push-in or pull-out setting. When I started at the HS level, my class was full RSP and they only pushed out for optional services such as S&L. Now, in CA an RSP caseload is topped at 28 students that they are required to support and monitor IEP status in the push-in or pull-out setting.

Stick notes in a variety of colors. Friction erasable pens in a variety of colors. I use colors with upper levels math to help kids know where each step goes. File folder for each student, folder for each student(I color code by grade level), colored expo markers, poster size graph paper, laminated multiplication tables, and graphic organizers for writing assignments. I make a lot of what I need through collaboration with gen ed teachers and Google suite. With COVID-19, I’ve created baskets with individual supplies for students as sharing items means more potential for spread. ( pencils, highlighter, dry erase, folder for goal work, multiplication chart) We use dry erase markers on our tables to teach lessons. My son’s RSP high school teacher has a gen ed wall with current assignments so kids don’t fall behind. Hope something on this list helps.

Honestly, I wouldn’t buy anything until you get into your room to see.

I think each student should have separate supplies: pens, pencils, and paper. Will you use binders?

How would you feel if a teacher who hates you vandalizes your room and your personal photo of front door entry to classroom and a test sign saying Warning with my face torn off. I reported to police but don’t know what they will do. Not sure of what I am to do with such hate.

How do I respond to an observation score of a II in an area where I feel the score was unwarranted? I scored III in all other areas. The score was a II because I had students working on Google Classroom & was finishing up emails before I transitioned into the classroom reading. It’s the week before midterms, and I have duty for 20 minutes of my 50-minute planning period in 1st. I have to respond to these emails in a timely manner & all students were working diligently on the first assignment.

I know someone needs to hear this: dropping an Excel file into Google and sharing it IS NOT “creating a Google Sheet”. If someone asks you to “make a Google Sheet and share it with me” here’s what you do: go to Google Drive > click + New > sheet opens > add content > share it back. If you do start in Xlsx and drop it in Google, then you need to right click the file and select Open With - Google Sheets > then inside click File - Save as Google Sheets. Now go delete the Xlsx file you dropped in.
