What kind of behavior systems do you use in your classroom? I teach 1st grade. I’m tired of using the folder/calendar system with 🙂/🙁 and a prize box. Any ideas?

I’m thinking about moving up to a high school English position from 8th grade English. Mainly I’m looking for a change. Any thoughts on the differences I’d be facing?

I have high school children of my own, but disciplining high schoolers has always intimidated me for some reason. I have excellent classroom management, but I feel like high schoolers are a little smarter ab getting around rules and less worried about consequences.

Our nurse has an email group of our states school nurses that she can bounce ideas off, or ask questions etc. Is there anything like that for secretaries? Teachers are keen to share how they handle things in their classrooms, but every school does attendance, has messages that need to be relayed thru the day, all these things going on, I just always wonder how it's handled elsewhere. I took this position two years ago and I don't like "This is just how it's always been done".

I teach 4th grade at a Christian school. I have been teaching for over 30 years but I have been at this school for 2 years. Since I have been working at this school it seems like everything I do in my classroom it's something wrong with it according to my supervisor. Recently, I was told that I am not getting a new contract for the new school year. I have to find a new school. I was told that I am not a good fit for the school.

I’m currently an associate (no kids) in a very busy corp group (think 50-60 billable weekly). My wife works significantly less (currently part time, 10-15, but hopefully will be full time soon). Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

Do five and six year old kindergartners eat pencils? Seriously… I think I sharpen 50 pencils per day!🤣

How the heck can I teach a kindergartener over the computer? It's all hands on in my class for the first couple of months. I have made and bought so many manipulatives but I can't send twenty home with the kiddos. When we do go back to in person learning they want to separate my kiddoes into two groups and I have to move between the two classes to teach. I'll be hauling my stuff on a cart to each class! I'm overwhelmed at the thought of all this.

With all of these changes and teaching live 3 or 4 times a day how are teachers supposed to have time to assess students? Most of the assessing is done one on one
Ideas? Is your admin letting the live sessions to be done precorded for a few days in order to have the time to actually do this?

I was told to give one students “food rewards” when he does what he is supposed to do. I will only do this if others on task gets the same reward. Non-perishable, kid friendly, bite size food ideas?
