I just lost my job due to the changes in the home health law. I was shocked for being short one person that I supervisor. These laws keep changing and Corp. is finding ways to let go of individuals, merging two job titles into one. Do you think this affects patient care?

I think it does affect patient care. When roles are stretched or merged, quality can quietly drop even if it is not immediately obvious.

Exactly what's happening to one of the Best Skilled Nursing Facility in Tucson. The employees can't take on the additional responsibilities, causing poorer patient care, low moral, employees quitting from to management to those of us on the front line. The ship is sinking fast but the CEO does nothing to change it, except for the worst. I used to love my job, now I hate it. Unfortunately, the same is true for most employees than not.

like

I'm not sure what changes you are referring to. I did a little research and could not find where the care would be lessened, but unfortunately, if we're talking about a corporation that is publicly traded, their first responsibility is to their shareholders. And so that means making more money, and this is unfortunate in the healthcare realm.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.
