Depending on where you live, every $10K you make per year is $500-800/mo after taxes. If $2000-3200/mo is super meaningful to you, then don’t switch roles.
I took a similar leap from corporate finance to a nonprofit, and while my paycheck took a hit, my stress levels plummeted. The trade-off depends on your lifestyle—if you can afford the drop and value better work-life balance, it might be worth it. That said, if you're used to high bonuses and climbing the corporate ladder, the slower pace might feel frustrating.
Finance salaries at nonprofits are like "thoughts and prayers"—nice in theory, but not enough to live on.
A few thoughts;
“If you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life.”
This opportunity may place you in a lower tax bracket depending on your circumstances which I won’t delve into.
Always go with your gut.
You can always make more money but you can’t gain time… (family, community, mental health, overall wellbeing, continuing education…)
Just a few thoughts of the top of my head at this late hour.
