I have a large company and I’ve hired a lot of people. I also think they’re wise when they ask for time. But I absolutely hate when they say they have to go home and talk to their spouse. And I don’t know why that triggers me. I guess I feel like your spouse isn’t gonna work with us or for me. And I think that’s stupid of me.
This is standard. It's not going to kill momentum at all. The majority of my negotiating takes place via email after I've had time to pore over everything.
You can, and it's not unreasonable. However, you are facing a unique market where employers are more comfortable moving on quickly to the next candidate. So, I wouldn't take long, or do your research so you have a number in mind and be willing to negotiate on the spot.
