I had to discuss that with my manager at the beginning of this year. I pretty much had to say look, I haven't had a raise in three years. If I don't get one, I am going to have to look for something else. She got me that raise really quickly.
That’s great it worked out! I guess it doesn’t hurt to lay it down, we all want more money at the end of the day.
Have you brought it up with them before, and how was their response? Sometimes it's just as simple as bringing it up and jogging their memory. "Hey, I wanted to circle back about my pay raise…"
I think I struggle with the balance of bringing it up but not too much, it’s hard to know when uoure starting to pester more than helping.
Some companies have a schedule for evaluations and raises, and if that's the case you may have to wait to make your case. If you don't have any discernible schedule, try to have a conversation about it. What you should do is prepare yourself ahead of time, make some notes about things you've done that have gone well. And tell your manager that you've gotten better at the job and you're a more productive employer than you were when your pay was set. Make it about yourself and your own performance.
We have set yearly pay rises at my place but sometimes the conversations just go quiet and no one talks about it.
Time to look for a new position and either leverage that offer or make the move.
Then it's either, deal with it or make the move. They've shown their intentions or lack of with their actions.
Mentor
Many people have told me to move on and find another job. But I’d bring it up after a few one on ones
