I know someone who previously worked as a contractor with a project for 10+ years. Three years ago she was hired as a full time employee.
She moved to a different location (city) => promoted as Sr level in B30
Yesterday, she got promoted to B35.

Another instance, A vendor with decent knowledge but a spoonfed approach is hired as Sr at B30 while the three year old external hire who has been learning and delivering is never promoted. His manager has always said - There are limited opportunities.

How are you developing client relationships when in-person networking is out?

I'm used to hanging out with my clients frequently, grabbing coffee, stopping by the office, etc. Zoom/Hangouts meetings just feel really awkward and it's difficult switching from business development which was 90% IRL to nearly all online... Especially when I run a 1-person shop.
