I left Big Law for balance and now trying to returnis a b****. Firms question commitment even though the move was intentional. It’s like exit paths are one-way. Did anyone reenter after leaving and how did you position it?

Say you left because you saw an opportunity for stretch your skillset or take on more responsibility or whatever, but then realized you missed the sophistication of biglaw work and realize you need to be in a much more high paced setting or whatever

Well said, agreed on this, always frame it positively

Saying you left "for balance" is probably ill-advised. That's going to come across as admitting you couldn't hack it. You might want to retcon a better reason why you stepped aside, and also do whatever you can to show that you want to get back into a high-stakes game.

If you are a 7th-year or higher, you have also aged out of their Associate pipeline. It is tougher to get in as experienced Counsel.

I just bought an Alexa for my grandma's birthday. Her old radio broke and she's been kind of sad because she can't listen to her favorite music anymore while cooking, so I thought this would be a good pick. She'll have her favorite music right there.

Later today my grandpa tells me she's not been asking Alexa for her favorite music, but for her radio stations instead 😭😂

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house. I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?
