I left my last job because I was displaced into a role I didn’t want based on demands from the top. Now I’m watching my former (not displaced) colleagues get promoted to VP while I’m struggling to make a case for promotion at my current firm due to work politics. I feel stupid and embarrassed. I’ve been working weekends for the past six months thinking I can make strides esp since I’m overqualified. Any words of wisdom from someone late in their career?

I've spent a good amount of time working strategy, product development and change management/PMO projects . Data Scientist by training with a small amount of DD and financial modeling experience - so hopefully have the analytics chops to learn new skills as needed.

As a third year experienced associate, I am up for promotion this year. I know for a fact that all the managers and directors whom I have worked with are very supportive of my promotion. I had perfect snapshots with performance differentiators. But my utilization and over time has been lower than the required metric. It was around ~82% and only ~150 hrs of over time. Thoughts on analyst to associate promote in IB?

Anyone out there who left their previous job for a new one have any advice or life experience to share? I’ve been thinking about it for months but currently feel comfortable in my job/the products I work on. I realized a slow pace at work is really bad for me. A couple years ago I was experiencing burn out from my fast paced job supporting transactions, and believed by moving to a slower job in a lower cost area, I would be sailing off to the sunset. Wrong, I spend weeks following up with other teams, often times they forgot what we discussed, so I spent 50% if the time reminding them of the topics and next steps. I spend most of my time writing memos no one will read.
