LinkedIn is a garbage app where I can’t even post my opinion or experience because it will go against the mainstream ideologies. I have used web quests, but I have found that the kids researching their choice of topics and creating Slides containing information and pics results in more students participating. When you teach a novel in class, do you assign pages for students to read at home? They never do it! How can we finish anything?

I got an email last night from a 7th-grade parent because her son said I mentioned the words "male privilege" in class, and she is very concerned about how that is related to ELA (she said "reading"), and she is concerned about this being taught in public schools. To be clear, I didn't do a lesson on this subject but we did discuss rights versus privileges. I've had multiple parents contact the school/get upset with me because of things like his. It's exhausting... Thoughts?

What are some fun ideas for projects about describing setting? I was going to have them create travel brochures about the setting of a story of their choice but I think this might be overdone.
