I love my job and have no intention of ever going back to a firm, but as a litigation-focused IHC, if I was to get laid off I might have to.

I was a junior associate at a Big Law firm before moving in-house but having a prior career, I am very autonomous and successful in my role. I would also not be considered a traditional Big Law candidate. Does anyone have experience pivoting back to a firm at a higher level because of their experience in-house as a more strategic attorney?

Why wouldn’t you just find another IHC role?

Ideally, I would, but litigation positions are not very common.

Yes, I returned to AmLaw200 after 5 years in house doing litigation. 15 years of experience total. I am in the patent litigation niche, so might have had an easier time of it. I used a recruiter and had to move states. My main drawback is not having any book of business, which will continue to limit me until I fix it.

The "confrontation" is really difficult for me lol. I actually like my current boss and she's been helpful and made me feel like she looks out for me too. But the new opportunity is too good to pass up on (huge increase to pay. No concerns on the team since ive worked with those people in the past in a different company)

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years). There are an increasing number of passive aggressive comments from the partner who expects to be completely hands off once the case lands on my desk. Wants me to figure it all out despite cases being from different areas of law.

Hey so just to check on my part. I worked at a place where we went to a firm happy hour and women attorneys were there. A picture was passed around of a really hot woman on Instagram who they are oggled , later after the woman left some guy talked about all the quote whores he slept with. The women weren't sex workers presumably. I'm a male this behavior seems inappropriate to me and made me uncomfortable. Am I expected to exhibit this level of 1950s machismo in my day-to-day life?

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids.
