How many of you get the Joke ? ;)

Currently I'm in a depressed and indecisive state with very low confidence. My salary is very much below par with respect to my experience.
YoE : 4
CTC : 5.25 lpa
I'm not prepared to make a switch . Is it ethical to ask my manager to revise the CTC . If yes , how much can I ask . Need your valuable inputs 🙏

It's called a new firm.
Don’t want to sound like a pretentious dick, but seriously think it’s time to leave OP. How can your firm pay you that little when you’ve worked over three years. I’m a first year and get paid way more than that....my point is that your talented and smart and there are definitely other better options for you. Don’t be scared to switch, change is hard but sometimes for the better!
Move to a new firm. If you don’t love them, you can look for another place after - there are lots of places you could consult. All my big salary jumps were switching to new companies.
I did already. It hasn't gotten any far doesn't help that I am up for h1 renewal and want my green card. Helps if you have a few years at a firm I guess
IMHO getting a job offer to force your employer to "right" your salary is wrong. 1. If you have to go to that length to be paid fairly it's not worth it and it only works once and 2. Lousy thing to do to the new company.
I had similar sentiments when I was at PwC. A couple of weeks before our partners huddled for year end reviews, I had a conversation with my partner about my salary- especially my dissatisfaction. He took it to heart and I ended up with a bigger salary jump that year. It helped that I was a tier 1 performer but at the end of the day, if I didn’t have the honest conversation, I doubt I would gotten that large of a raise. So my advice- have a conversation with your partner.
Same story s1
Go interview elsewhere. Get offers in hand, and use those to negotiate with the partner. That gives him external data points on what your work is worth and then both of you can make a better informed decisions about how much you should make to stay
D1 negotiated a salary at PwC only to negotiate a better package to join D. Ha!
OP first of all I’m guessing your are in risk which makes a big difference.
I was in a non-sf west coast city and I went 55>59>74(got a 5 and the city jumped to tier 1 that year) >80.5>93 (s3 now)
So in my anecdotal opinion you are not awful after 3 years.... it’s part of starting so low and being in risk because I guarantee 93k as an S3 is on the low end here as well /:
EY OP - sounds like you are in it audit/ ITRA. Honestly, take the jump. I was in the same spot, started at 54k and even with the highest rating for 2 years, my senior 1 salary was going to be 72k. So I joined Pwc as soon as my promotion at EY was confirmed and started making >100k. Low cost city.
Pwcburnnotice@gmail.com if you just want to talk through options
OP you heard it throughout and the answer is you gotta jump ship. I worked at Deloitte after undergrad and was paid 50k in an associate position. I worked my butt off and finally got myself promoted to consultant and moved over to the traditional career track, only to make 65k over the course of 3 years.
I loved my job, but I had to leave. The whole “your salary will even out over time” may be true in the long run but you can’t expect to be paid less now. I get it. Plus it’s a shit excuse for not wanting to adjust someone’s pay for what they deserve. I did the whole “talk to your partner” thing and got me nowhere.
Finally, you have this H1B work visa topic to factor in as well, so unless you’re able to find a company willing to sponsor you, I take it it’ll be pretty difficult to find a new company? You’re in a pretty tough spot.
I keep thinking about making a switch but am worried about what happens if I don't like the new place?
I’m having this problem now. Started at 55, now a senior 2 at 73k, and would definitely jump but I love my team too much #FeelsBadMan
Which city?
My location will reveal my name lol
Gotta be a low COL, no tax area, and a small office. So one of Orlando, Vegas, Reno, Manchester (NH), Chattanooga, or Fort Worth. Or maybe one of the other FL or TN offices
BCG pays way more from what I understand
Jump ship. And at every jump demand 10k more. Trust me
Switch to a different group if you want to stay at EY. That isn’t typical
