Question on compensation for a small co with a huge independent contractor workforce that is looking at big expansion into Europe. Reports to the general counsel. 1 other lawyer. Bonus 10-18%. Last year was 15%. No 401k for highly comped employees. I asked if they would be open to having me set up a safe harbor 401 k and they said yes in the future but it won’t be part of this offer. 16 pto days. They moved from 205 to 210 but that 230 is not possible even tho posted salary range was up to 233k

i applied for a snr consultant role in consulting (strategy & ops, indus. redesign & innov.) and saw my app. got shortlisted. this role looks more suited for me and im super interested in it, more so than my prev. exp at D but you never know haha. whats the process like/how likely will i progress?

So something crazy happened to me last week. I was at the airport, and as usual on call after call. The check in line was going ridiculously slowly and at some point turned threw my hands up in frustration while looking around to find another place to check in. In doing so, I catch the eye of the behind me. He smiles and says something. I just sort of nod and carry on with my call. Partner quit their job, and according to job contract, have to pay back "training costs" since they left before an agreed-upon amount of time. When it comes to taxes, how should I treat this amount? You are important to the project, but never so important that you cannot leave the project or firm for better opportunities. Being in hero mode is good where you save the day, everyday - but in fact that is neither advisable for your progression nor a recommended practice for the firm. If you have been performing and have had decent social skills, you will not have burnt a bridge when you leave.
