I love my team and my direct manager is a genuinely good human, but the company’s upper management is a total disaster. I feel a huge sense of guilt leaving my colleagues behind to drown in the workload I’d be leaving them with. My manager actually sat me down and asked me to stay for the team until after the next audit cycle. At what point do you have to be selfish and realize that your mental health is more important than your team’s workload?

It's never selfish to take care of your mental health first. You know it's time to leave NOW.

No guilt needed, you made your decision to leave and they made decision to stay(yet), so workload is their own choice

What you’re feeling makes a lot of sense — and it’s actually a sign you’re a highly conscientious teammate, not someone who’s being “too emotional” or “selfish.”
But I’m going to be very direct with you, because this is one of those moments where clarity matters more than comfort:
If a company’s system only works when individuals sacrifice their mental health, the system is already broken.

If I have 6+ months of expenses in investments in a brokerage account, do I need an emergency fund? Totally clear on the purpose of an emergency fund, but a brokerage account seems pretty liquid and the market would need to crash to a significant level to a point where I could no longer rely on this to liquidate and live off of if needed. Is it crazy to put my emergency fund to work by buying VOO with plan for a long time hold?
