I need to get out of my venue contract. It's non refundable but it's just come to my attention that the venue is involved in a bunch of lawsuits relating to weddings. Does anybody have any experience/advice with getting out of their venue contract?

What are the lawsuits about?

Are there other provisions giving you cause to cancel? Force majeure wouldn’t really apply but anything else?

thanks!

Aren’t you a lawyer? Why are you asking us? 😂

no worries, I don't necessarily want people in my personal life to know that my wedding is being postponed just yet, so I'm just covering all my bases since there are lawyers on here

So my fiancé and I are having a microwedding in Rocky Mountain National Park next year, and we’re working with an elopement planner.
She sent over a sample ceremony (intro, sweet poems + passages to be read, and example vows), and we read through it last night. I was reading it out loud while my fiancé made dinner, and it just hit me that this is really happening. I’m just really happy that I found someone who is willing to take a vow to spend his life with me and I’m so excited for that day :)

I’m excited for my wedding but it’s almost 9 months away and I started planning it over a year ago. However, whenever I’m around friends/family it’s the only thing people want to talk to me about. It’s constant and generally there’s not many updates to give & I’d just rather talk about other things. I work full time & I’m in school right now so I’m stressed about those things and I don’t know how to communicate that I’d just rather not talk about the wedding without sounding ungrateful/happy

So, we have a wedding registry and my fiance and I would really like people to stick to gifting us what's on that registry. Yet, people keep asking what they should get us. Thoughts on kindly asking your bridesmaids to please not give a gift? I am over the moon excited that my bridesmaids will be celebrating me and traveling for the wedding and bachelorette. I really do not want a gift from them at the wedding. Full disclosure, my fiancé and I have great paying jobs and my bridesmaids are grad students, artists, and teachers. How would you frame this? Even if they were millionaires I would not want a gift, but I don’t want it taken the wrong way.

My partner and I are planning to elope. We want the wedding and the trip that will go with it to be for us. That being said, we want to throw a party of some kind to celebrate with our friends. We're pretty lost as far as the general etiquette around this goes. Do you have to tell venues it's for a "wedding" reception? Is it expected that we will still make a gift registry?

Are you paying for bridesmaid hair and make-up? Was a little sticker shocked $200 per person before gratuity, just adds up quickly with that many people😬 Not requiring it but wanted to offer it if they want to be more glammed up, but now seeing online that’s it’s considered quite rude to not cover it for them? Maybe just cover one and they can do the other if they want? Don’t want to be rude if it’s expected but also don’t want to blow our budget… any perspective on the “norm” appreciated!
