When I wash a seasoned pan I dry it immediately and rub some oil on it most of those pans rust if you just wash them.
Seasoning is a layer of polymerized oil baked onto the pan's surface. The name is stupid and comes from an era where we didn't know the science.
It's hard to remove a seasoning layer that formed properly, washing it won't hurt it unless you use very abrasive cleaners. Anything that's safe for a non-stick pan (another type of polymer-coated cookware) should be fine.
yep, you're not supposed to wash them. it's the original non stick. if you use properly and take care of them, should have no problem. here's a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bTDwi-ddjM on the process of seasoning cast iron.
cast iron, to some people, is kind of a hipster thing where it's "the best and most pure way" and hey they might be on to sometimhing
