I never thought I would be one of those people who just walk out of a job on the first day. I tend to have a high tolerance for crazy customers, crappy coworkers, incompetent managers, awful working conditions, and all that. I've been working in retail or customer service since I was 16. But damn, yesterday was the worst day in my professional life. I walked out around the 5 hour mark on my first day. I get there and there's no real training or anything, I spend some time following a 20

something year old around. She didn't really bother to tell me anything and she took two breaks during the hour or so I followed her. Whatever, I have enough on the job experience, I figure I can figure things out. I'm told to stock the shelves, but I'm not shown where anything is kept, so I wander around trying to figure things out for a bit. Get yelled at for being too slow and was told I'll have to work through my lunch to catch up. The breakroom smelled like sewage, so I wasn't too upset about not having to hang out there. But at this point I was pretty much over this place. I could see working there was going to be a nightmare but my breaking point came when I was told to clean the bathrooms. I'm not a janitor and I shouldn't be expected to clean up messes customers or employees leave all over the bathroom. So, I just walked out and at this point I don't even care if they send my paycheck.

I had a similar experience in my last job.
The manager changed my rota then when I asked him about it he looked at me like I had two heads & said I was looking at a different rota also he expected me to be a cleaner not gonna happen just cos I did it once.
Was told we weren’t going to be doing any HomeDelivery which was rubbish as we had the drivers & the pickers & packers.
Was also told sales were going down when they were obviously getting permanent members of staff coming in & staff were being asked to drop their hours or shifts.
Seems to me they were trying to wedle out the weak ones to replace with permanent from other stores.
Ive been in retail 30 odd years & what gets me is why bother employing someone if they are gonna not have you working for them.
