Hi all.
Has anyone in IBM been on bench for more than 4 months here?
I have been on bench for almost 4 months now & have been getting automated mails asking me to get assigned to a project by searching one by myself, else necessary action might be taken.
And are there any chances of being straightaway fired based on these automated mails?
I would genuinely need an advise from someone who is aware of this kind of situation.
Thanks in advance

Push start date. If they really like you and if they’re a good company they’ll respect your decision and will be even happier they chose someone who’s not careless. Also tell your current firm right when you get the job and put in a month notice to be nice and helpful.
I don’t think any company is going to let someone push their start for an entire month to help another company... maybe a week.
Hope you’re taking some vacation in between jobs OP!
Other thing is that pushing it a month would only give me 2 weeks on that audit. The other two weeks are wrap up of another. Not much that can be done besides making selections within that timeframe
OP have you thought about talking to a partner (perhaps that engagement’s partner) about this opportunity to let him/her know you are considering it. This way it provides some warning without giving your notice. It sounds to me like you care about the team you would be leaving behind and, personally as a partner, I welcome anyone that approaches me in a similar situation. It’s not that I want to talk people out of leaving necessarily, but I always appreciate the courtesy of allowing me to know in advance. It shows you care and this is what creates a future opportunity to return to the firm if the new job is not working out. Sounds like a great opportunity- congrats!
Definitely would recommend against this from personal experience.
Or should I push back the start date to a month from there to get the team going? Job is well worth it, with over 40% bump in pay.
