I quit a job because the boss was very condescending to me. After I left, my past employees called me to tell me the boss had told them a story that didn’t make sense to them and they called me not only to report but also get to the bottom of the story.

Boss had told everyone that I was fired

I always really loved to work for that entity but this boss has created a situation for me that I can never go back there anymore.

Any advice on what I should do to regain my stance with that employer?

If you just quit, why worry about going back right away? I would focus on moving on. Even if you go back one day, I'm guessing what really happened is in the documentation and HR will see that.

That’s really tough, especially since you enjoyed the job. First, it might help to calmly reach out to HR or a higher-up at the company to clarify what happened. Explain your side, emphasize that you left voluntarily, and ask for a chance to clear your reputation. If possible, get documentation or witness support from former colleagues. It’s important to keep things professional and factual. You might not be able to change that boss’s behavior, but you can work on restoring trust with the organization.

I have an MSN with a focus in informatics. Recently got my board certification. 3.5 years experience as a nurse. 8 years total in healthcare. Becoming very frustrated with my organization and the slowness of our analysts in getting anything resolved. Feeling like I’m at a dead end and thinking about switching routes entirely. Just wanting others to share salary and location and maybe give me a little hope that you have a better team where you’re at that actually get things accomplished.

Debating accepting an offer for a newer, lower-MM healthcare and growth focused PE firm. I know I want to go to PE at some point, but what are some thoughts on when you should go?

Any Atomic Habit readers here? I’m brainstorming identity-based habits for two things I want to change:

-I want to bill more hours, so my goal is to become the type of person who bills at least 8 a day

Neither of these feel that helpful. Any one have suggestions for other identity-based goals that get at these changes I want to make?

Having trouble selling my (retired) dad's house. It needs a lot of work, but has great character. What if I buy it myself for a low, low price? Then I would be able to get a FHA 203k loan to do the updates. Rent it out or put it back on the market in the spring.

Our employee satisfaction survey is tied to our performance goals. Meaning, if we rate management badly, we cannot meet 10% of our goals which in turn affects our bonuses and raises. We asked HR but they didn’t do anything about it. Is this normal? Is this legal? If not, what else can we do about it?
