watch enormous amounts of tv and movies in spanish. this is faster than books and is how many non english speakers learn english.
yes switch back and forth and experiment with all different subtitle arrangements. the volume of spanish tv you consume is what’s most important

This is a good exchange
Go to Antigua Guatemala 🇬🇹 for one month. They are world renowned for their spanish school. It’s fantastic.
Someone wiser than me told me that there are two ways to learn a new language;
- either sitting at a table with your teacher in front of you
(Or)
- lying on a bed with your teacher on top of you
Just make sure you find a decent teacher 😂😂😂

Not a bad idea. Get an SO who speaks Spanish.
I learned to speak pretty fluently a few years ago. My overall process took varying levels of intensities:
I started with some audio lessons that quickly got me speaking, even if basic (I used the Michel Thomas Method recordings). As soon as I could, I then started going to group conversation meetups (some informally organized, and some organized by local language and culture institutions, etc.). I also had a weekly online session with a language instructor for more targeted conversation practice. Throughout this whole time I’d try to read news, listen to music and podcasts, etc. all in Spanish.
Eventually I spent 6 months in a Spanish-speaking country, 3 of which I went to a language school + did some volunteer work. This is where I really accelerated
Why don’t you have the ability to practice with anyone. With the internet that shouldn’t be an issue and is probably the easiest way to learn and practice
In Atl I went to a language meet up to practice French. It was cool they had a coffee style atmosphere with different languages at each table.
See if your city has one .. it’s expected to have new learners and folks are patient and you make friends😀
+1 for Duolingo, used it for 1.5 months ahead of going to Costa Rica to learn Spanish. Didn’t make it super far down the tree given limited time, but was pleasantly surprised at how much better I was able to navigate the country having used it vs. my S.O. who didn’t. There are speaking and listening exercises as well, which is a decent substitute for not having a language buddy (perhaps even better in early lang acq period)
Duolingo!
I like Duolingo
I love Duolingo. I’ve been using it to learn French. Their lessons are a good mix.
