Don't overthink it, just approach them for one on one and request that they review your pay. However, if the pay for your new position is in line with industry standard, it's not very likely they will say yes. You have to put yourself and your family above the company. I would suggest job hunting.
It’s wild how “restructuring” always seems to restructure your paycheck, too. I’d go to your manager with factss to show how you’ve stayed loyal through chaos, kept guests happy, and carried the load. Frame it like, “I understand the situation, but can we revisit my compensation to reflect my contribution?” Keep it calm, confident, and maybe slip in a little humor. At least at my place, I can tell that hospitality runs on charm as much as it does on caffeine (and other things lol)
Why would you stay for your team when struggling financially? Brainwashed at its finest. Coworkers are not family members. Unless you don’t have one.
I wouldn’t accept a position that my livelihood was being affected by it. I would immediately call my manager to talk about the concern and see if I can get my old position back.
Reach out to the Workforce Solutions department of your state's unemployment division.
A reduction in pay is similar to being let go.
They can make an adjustment claim for your percentage of wages that were reduced.
I don’t think you have a leg to stand on here. You can bring up your concerns with your supervisor, but I doubt anything will change. You might need to find a new job that pays better.
I think the thing to remember is that they didn’t reduce your pay this much because you didn’t ask for more. They reduced the pay to what they’re willing to pay you.
