I’m quite unhappy at my job and don’t feel fulfilled at all so I started looking around February.
As covid’s made it very hard to find work elsewhere, I’m just making sure I do what needs to be done in my current gig and find motivation in side projects.
Not much else you can do while seeking work in a market that’s not conducive to it.
I felt that way in my prior agency. I made the switch last year and I’m so happy I did. I’m now at a company where I feel valued, properly and fairly compensated, and I work with a great team.
What seems to be the problem? Is it your team, the actual work, etc?
I’d say prioritize your mental health. Take a couple of days off to start. Evaluate if you want to start a new job search at this point..it may not be easy given the Covid climate but sounds like you need to jump ship. Wish you the best and hope it gets easier!
Everything. I’m being gaslighted even when I have documented evidence of issues/blockers for work. I’m being asked to work 60-70 hours. There’s rapid turnarounds expected when I’m booked in meetings all day. I’m being asked to do work which is not part of my role.
I’ve been doing the job that is two levels above mine and no promotion for two years because of finances/COVID and being told that all of this is normal.
I’ve been looking for new jobs for 6 months but COVID isn’t making it easier. I’m no longer trying to keep my head above water. I’ve already drowned.
I’m in the same boat as you! I’ve found that starting early in the morning, taking a lunch break (like go for a walk, listen to a podcast, etc.) and then try to sign off for a bit at 5:30/6 has made my mental health so much better. I do end up working late at night, but at least I can enjoy the day and get outside. Then I spend some of my Sunday night job searching and getting a few hours of work done.
