That’s always been the job, unless it’s specifically someone else’s role. Where there’s ambiguity you go to Legal to make a call
Got it
I wear many different hats. But I’m at a small company. So I’m a product counsel as well as commercial counsel as well as privacy officer, and sometimes have to support HR with employment issues and compliance with compliance related issues.
Good to know
This is exactly what the job is. 99% of the job is stakeholder management; assessing risk for the company, advising internal clients, helping implement changes and making sure they actually do it. As in-house counsel you almost never draft a legal memo that goes into the ethers. You interpret, advise and execute on a moments notice. When in doubt, everyone comes to legal for an answer and you will own everything.
