I recently relocated to this wonderful city and, at the age of 55+, I am searching for an active adult community. Ideally, it would be an apartment complex specifically designed for people in their prime with an independent environment (i.e., not assisted living). Do you have any recommendations on where to begin my search?

I’m 52 and I live in Carmel Valley. There are a lot of of apartment communities around Del Mar Highlands and One Paseo, where you’ll find a lot of good restaurants, shops, and a Cinépolis - so very walkable. And just a few miles to Torrey Pines and Del Mar beach (and Del Mar Dog Beach. 😄). There are definitely a lot of families but also a lot of more mature people here too. We love it!

I’d avoid PB and Mission Beach. They are super fun for a casual night out but it’s mostly suitable for 20 & 30 somethings.

Welcome to town! 🌞

No recs but you will have plenty of activities to do! I wonder if places like Carlsbad or Encinitas might be better than the city city. Not sure though…

I am 47 with family and live in suburban hell.

Congrats on the move.

I just moved here recently too.

I moved to North Park to a new apt complex and bc it’s a brand new building, lots of folks moving into it and the few monthly events offer a change to meet your neighbors and also new people (deff not to the extent you’re looking for but still better than nothing).

I went from agency to in house PR 1.5 years ago (I’m at a prof services firm in nyc). There are no boundaries for communication; everyone is expected to answer emails immediately at all hours and senior people respond in minutes between about 7am-11pm, at minimum. Is this normal in the corporate, non agency world? Not sure if this is just due to the pandemic and WFH, but I was under the impression that in house life would be more chill.

What law firm is your favorite for run of the mill employment issues in the US and internationally (India, Australia, UK, Germany, etc.). I primarily use Littler because they have a broad reach and decent rates but I’m wondering whether Bird & Bird, Ogletree, or some other firm has similar pricing and as good or better quality work. So, who are you using and are you happy?

I have an offer accepted from Elevance 125k (Anthem) and w a good team and seems that WLB would be ok. Also, Amazon hiring manager wants to interview me for a job. Is just a hiring manager int. so obvi nothing guaranteed. Salary if offered will be more than 150k. My question is should I accept the interview and see where it goes? Is it really worth it to proceed with a company like Amazon for 25k+. I live in CA so $ is imp but I do have a toddler so WLB is also imp. Both role are Sr. MGR.
