Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

It’s much easier to get into big4 than as a developer at google or meta.
EY5 I moved to Deloitte and do technical accounting for post-merger integration, carve outs, and IPOs while assisting FDD teams as needed if the accounting is complex.
My projects are usually 2-6 months long and our schedules are more predictable than FDD. Most weeks I put in 40-45 hours/week. My lightest week has been 20 hours and my heaviest was 55 hours. Weekend work is extremely rare.
You're kinda late to the party, bud. Big Tech's been the sexy and hot industry for the past decade. But it's never too late to make the switch instead of regretting your career choice for the next 30-50 years.

I do wish I'd studied computer science but isn't the salary ceiling lower (for most)? Seems like most top out in the low-mid 100s.
I've almost caught up to my tech friends, and I'll probably surpass from here on out (SM). There are two superstars in my group who have been making MD money since their late 20s but they're also super bright grinders. Most seem to pace just a little ahead of a top rated tax person on big4.
You didn’t even mention salary or stock / bonuses
They said "higher pay"
