No but, it creates a taxable event this year if you didn’t split out the match to a traditional IRA. That amount will be fully included in your AGI this year.
It's not a contribution though. It's a conversion, both times. 401(k) match to traditional IRA to Roth IRA. I'm more than happy to pay the tax on the 2nd conversion to avoid issues in the future. It sounds like this works.
Yea the employer portion goes into a traditional Ira and it will create pro rata issues in the future
