I sneezed in the office today.
Not a single “bless you.”
Now, I’m questioning everything: my presence, my voice, and maybe even my entire existence.
Is this normal, or have I officially achieved invisibility?
At this point, I’m just wondering… what’s the point of even showing up here?

Why were you in the office on a Sunday?

funnylike

LOL. It's not exactly today, but you get my feelings.

I totally get how you feel. I was in a job that I felt exactly like this. People just didn’t care about one another. Nobody care about talking to each other. I hated it. I think being Hispanic and coming from a much warmer culture made it a lot harder for me. It was mostly American people. I switched to another company (mostly Latin American people) where it is totally the opposite. People are so nice, say “good morning”, hug you in the morning when saying hi. The office has the open space concept so we’re always talking and it is so much fun to actually go to work. If you care about this, definitely look into other companies where the work culture resonates with you.

When I interviewed with my boss’s boss I asked how would they describe the culture and they highlighted the flexibility of the company, he said that the company isn’t perfect but that the people and the environment is what has made him stay for over 10 years there regardless of being offered more money. I can’t remember exactly the question but I remember him also highlighting that people have a life outside of work and that the company cares that the employee have a work/life balance. Of course who you have as a boss also has a big impact on your experience in each company but these things made me feel a little bit better before joining the company. Also, the reviews of the company usually will mention this aspect.

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job.
